Bear-ly there

One of my favorite things to do at the fair. Ride the bear!

Things are still very busy here with the start of school and the whole Proposition 8 (Protect Marriage) effort going on. It 's amazing how much time I spend on that issue. It reminds me of some of the battles we read about in Alma and Heleman, but more on that later.

I know I haven't posted much lately. But Kim is coming to town and we'll get lots of good photos and fun things to post. Of course, then I'll need time to do it. . .

Wouldn't I have made a great pirate?

The theme for the state fair his year is Hollywood. They have all these cool cardboard cutouts you can have your picture taken with. I think I fit right in. Johnny Depp aint got nothin' on me.

Family Reunion's are Great!

The last weekend of July I got to attend the Carr/Spencer Reunion in Spokane. It was 3 days of food, fun and family! My cousin Annette shared her beautiful home with several families which made for easy visiting. We spent one day at a nearby amusement park. Here is a picture of the roller coaster I rode with my eyes closed (they wouldn't open!)

Here is most of the Group at the park in our nifty yellow t-shirts.

In case some of you have never seen this ride before, it is called the tilt-a-whirl and it has a history in our family reunions. My cousin, Annette and I have ridden the tilt-a-whirl at reunions for at least 40 - 50 years. They had one at Julia Davis Park in Boise and I remember going back to my mom several times during the day, begging for a quarter to ride just ONE more time!
We had a great ride, Annette's mom & grandson rode with us.
It was so neat to renew family friendships and get to know the up and coming generation. We're hoping to keep up the tradition - The Woolstenhulmes are planning one for 2010!! If any of my children are reading this - put it on the calendar now!!!

On My Way to Oroville

This Monday I reprized last year's trip to Oroville to eat lunch with Uncle Richie. The concept is that when Rich was working here in Yuba City I would often go to his place and eat lunch with him during the Summer. We had fun.

When he started working in Oroville I decided to ride my bike up there (it's a little over 32 miles) and get him to buy me lunch. : ) This year my buddy Joe Harrison went with me. Joe is a big-time biker. I just dabble in it.

We had fun biking - and big cheeseburgers washed down with a large blackberry milkshake. Yumm! Rich enjoyed the time away from the office.

Below is a short clip taken with my "Action Cam" strapped to my helmet. This footage comes from along Township Rd. You can see cotton growing on the right.
